MSPC specialises in the support of people affected by Multiple Sclerosis and Parkinson’s. Our organisation is looking for a Health & Wellbeing Adviser to provide accessible, evidence-based interventions to individuals and their whanau, enabling people to live well in their communities. Our Advisors address challenges to the four determinants of health through the provision of information, education, and advocacy framed by our understanding of Te Whare Tapa Whā.
Āu Mahi | What You Will Do
In this role, you will be
- Developing health & wellbeing assessments and plans to deliver a tailored approach to the people we support, and their whanau
- Liaising with other agencies to achieve goals & advocate in the interests of the people we support and their whanau
- Delivering education to the MSPC and wider community
- Facilitating peer support groups and social connection opportunities
This role will appeal to you if you wish to work closely with those in the neurological field and upskill on MS and Parkinson’s conditions in particular. Our ideal candidate will have previous experience of community-based practice and have a professional background in nursing, social work, occupational therapy or other allied health professions.
A collaborative approach is key to the role as you work with the MSPC team to develop relationships with other health and community providers, government agencies, and liaise with neurologists and other health professionals. Assisting our service users and whanau to navigate the integrated health system is an important aspect of our work.
We want you to bring all your experience, skills, and knowledge in your kete so all people who access our services and supports receive the highest level of care possible as they navigate a pivotal chapter in their life.
The role is 25 – 30 hours per week to be worked over 4 or 5 days.

We offer one-on-one care and assessment, education and advocacy, peer support groups and social connection, and our extensive activation programmes especially designed for people with neurodegenerative conditions. Join us in the new BrainTree Centre in Papanui, where we are part of a hub of organisations supporting people with neurological conditions.
