The Multiple Sclerosis & Parkinson’s Society of Canterbury provides the following services:
- Nurse visit to people who are newly diagnosed with MS or Parkinson’s
- Support and information for members, their family, friends, caregivers, health professionals, employers and work colleagues
- Liaison with medical clinicians and general practitioners
- Information about medication
- Free follow up home visits as requested
- Referrals to appropriate counselling agencies
- Up-to-date evidence based information about MS and Parkinson’s
- Social Activity Programmes for an opportunity to meet others
- Gym Facility Programmes for individual and group exercises and assessment
- Education Workshops on various aspects of MS or Parkinson’s
- Library with books available on MS, Parkinson’s and caring for people with these diagnoses
- Immunotherapy education, training and support
- Referrals to health professionals for assessment and assistance with daily living
- Assessment for total mobility/taxi vouchers
- Access to subsidised Podiatrist
- Quarterly Newsletter posted to members and available on-line
